About Us
Chris Cuvelier paid his way
through college by working in restaurants and retail management.
This experience helped him develop the philosophies
that Juice & Smoothie Bar Consulting is based on today. After
receiving his bachelor's degree in business from the University
of California at Irvine, he began a prosperous career in real estate
financing - a background key to understanding people's needs, negotiating
contracts and managing relationships. Deep down inside, Chris wanted
to own his own business; something that he could walk into, look
around and see what he had created - Something that he could call
his own.
An avid athlete who enjoys running, playing basketball,
and swimming, Chris made "protein shakes" at home after
working out as a quick and nutritious meal. In 1994, while living
in Southern California, he was introduced to a "juice bar"
that served smoothies, protein shakes, fresh squeezed juices, and
healthy snacks. Juice and smoothie bars started becoming very popular
and this peaked Chris's interest. A juice bar was a business that
seemed upbeat & fun, had a great profit potential, and Chris
had the skills it would take to open and operate his own store.
He went out and researched the market, raised capital, got an SBA
loan, created recipes, and opened a store called Juice Time in Walnut
Creek, California, a quaint suburb of San Francisco. Without any
training or help, Chris struggled with the business for the first
6 months. Once store systems were developed and things ran smoothly,
Juice Time received rave reviews, had long lines and attracted many
loyal customers. This was only the beginning.
Chris's boundless energy, hard work, detailed planning
and business savvy had created a special recipe, ideal for such
a fun and upbeat industry. He understood that the industry was growing
by leaps and bounds and in order to be successful you must pay attention
to a 1001 details. He realized that you must have a great location,
fabulous products, fast and friendly customer service, and an inviting
environment in order to compete in this competitive industry. Chris
organized the information, created key relationships, devised training
systems, and packaged all of the information, to create the most
complete juice bar consulting packages available.
Today, Juice & Smoothie Bar Consulting is recognized
as a world leader in the Juice & Smoothie Bar Industry having
worked in 7 countries internationally and in most major markets
in the United States. Chris has written numerous articles about
the juice bar industry and is often quoted in major publications
such as QSR, Entrepreneur Magazine,
and Restaurants & Institutions.
Juice & Smoothie Bar Consulting has joined forces with Juice
Bar Solutions owned by David & Ellie Gross. David & Ellie
owned and sold a successful juice bar chain in the San Francisco
Bay Area and created Juice Bar Solutions to offer extended services
including equipment sales, product distribution, design and layout
services, and construction management.
